Alfred Herrin, 92, and most recently of Houston, TX, passed away on March 27, 2015 after an illness. A native of Brantley County, GA Mr. Herrin was a veteran of World War II, and earned an engineering degree from Georgia Tech. He has been comfortably retired in Houston following a successful engineering career. In his retirement, he enjoyed gardening and visiting with his family. He will be remembered for his generosity, compassion, and his determination to do what is right rather than what is easy. He was the son of Julia and Joseph Herrin who preceded him in death along with brothers and sisters; Isabelle Highsmith, Elias Herrin, Jim R. Herrin, Edna Manor, Julia Davis, Joseph Herrin, Johnny Herrin and Jerry Herrin. His beloved wife, Joy Pyle Herrin of Canada, also preceded him. He is survived by his son, Alfred Ernest Herrin of Houston and his daughter Lisa Herrin Moran of Burleson, her husband Ruben, and Mr. Herrin's five grandchildren; Evelyn Dozier and her husband Chad, Derek and Denton Drechsel, and Carmen and Isabella Moran. Also surviving are his two sisters; Aletha Mae White and Janie Brand with her husband, Edward all of Nahunta; and a multitude of nieces, nephews and extended family. He had prearranged donation of his body for science. A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 11, 2015 at 2PM a Frye Funeral Home in Nahunta, GA.
