Nahunta- Aline Grimsley Highsmith, 90 of Nahunta, passed away Sunday (October 27, 2024) at Hospice Satilla in Waycross following an extended illness.
Born in Wilmington, NC., her parents were John C. Wilkerson and Jane Della Turner Wilkerson. She was also preceded in death by two sons, Robert Lee and Garland “Junior” Parker; three brothers, Luther Linwood Grimsley, Hubert Grimsley and David Grimsley; four sisters, Thelma Grimsley Woodard, Doris Wilkerson, Elma Grimsley Hursey and Christine Grimsley Sells.
Aline attended Raybon Church of God of Prophecy. She enjoyed fishing, working in the garden, and canning vegetables. Aline also loved watching gospel music and preaching on T.V. and loved her family and spending time with them.
Survivors include her husband, Charles Highsmith, of Nahunta; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Billy Ray Parker, also of Nahunta and William Highsmith (Kimberly), of Waycross; 7 daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Ann Gee (Bobby), of Nahunta, Dorothy “Dixie” Deshan (Gator), of Waynesville, Rita Pasanen (Bobby), of Nahunta, Joyce Walker, of Blackshear, Megan Highsmith (Donald), of Waycross, Victoria Wilson (Lawrence), of Bell, FL., and Helmi Fredrica (Tony), of Yulee, FL; several grandchildren; several great grandchildren; several great great grandchildren; a special sister-in-law, Reba Crews, of Nahunta. Also several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
Visitation will be held Tuesday (October 29, 2024) from 10:30AM-11AM at New Hope Cemetery.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday (October 29, 2024) at 11AM at New Hope Cemetery with Rev. Paul Rhoden officiating.
The family will be receiving friends at the residence of Reba Crews; 228 Angel Way, Nahunta, GA., 31553.
In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice Satilla; 808 Evergreen Way, Waycross, GA., 31501.
Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
