Allie Skipper Carter

Allie Skipper Carter, 73, of Waynesville, died Monday morning (Aug. 30, 2010) at Hospice of the Golden Isles, Brunswick, following a lengthy illness. Born in Brunswick, GA, her parents were Sherman Brantley Skipper, Sr. and Ruby Thelma Gamble Skipper. She is also preceded in death by her brother, Sherman B. Skipper, Jr. and 2 sisters, Geneva Smith and Linda J. Bare. Allie was a retired Cardiac Technician for Southeast Georgia Health System. She was an Artist who loved to paint and loved writing songs and singing. She loved flowers and was a past member of a Garden Club in Toccoa. She went on 5 mission trips with Hill Street Baptist Church, Toccoa, GA, and worked in many different areas in her churches and was a song leader where she now is a member of Waynesville Baptist Church. Survived by her husband of 27 yrs., Marvin Carter of Waynesville; a Son, Daniel Carter of Chapmanville, WV; 3 Daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy and Donnie Sikes of Shellman Bluff; Kay and Kelly Bare of Waynesville, and Joy and Rod Fernando of Toccoa; a Brother and sister-in-law, William "Bill" A. and Ernestine Skipper of Brunswick; 2 Sisters and a brother-in-law, Louise Clifton of Brunswick and Mary "Bunny" and David Jackson of Brunswick; 7 grand daughters and spouses, Brittany and Chad Smith, Dani and Josh Duane, Allyson and Brandon Carter, Hannah and Joshua Goodbar, Kelley Ann Bare, Lacie Bare and Hillarie Fernando; several nieces, nephews and other relatives. Visitation will be Tuesday evening, Aug. 31, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta. Funeral services will be Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2010 at 2 p.m. at Waynesville Baptist Church with Rev. Vance Colley, Rev. David Hudson and Rev. Paul Garrison officiating. Burial will follow at Palmetto Cemetery, Brunswick, GA Pallbearers will be Daniel Ryle, Joshua Ryle, John B. Smith, David Clifton, Wallace Bare, Sr. and Kelly Bare. Honorary will be her Sunday School Class at Waynesville Baptist Church and also the Choir. In Lieu of flowers donations can be given to Hospice of the Golden Isles, Waynesville Baptist Church or to Gideon International. Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
