Angela Ellen Highsmith

Waynesville – Angela Ellen Carr Highsmith, 76, of Waynesville passed away early Tuesday morning (December 15, 2020) at Bayview Nursing Home after an extended illness.

Born in Brunswick, GA her parents were Rupert Carr and Nova Estes Carr. She is also preceded in death by a grandson, Devin Ryan Johns; a brother, Charles Carr; and her favorite dog, Heidi.

Angela was a retired cosmetologist and of the Baptist faith. She loved cooking, going to the ballfield and out fishing her husband, Mr. J.W.

Survivors include her husband, J.W. Highsmith, Jr. of Waynesville; a son and daughter-in-law, Brian & Bobbie Highsmith of Waynesville; 2 daughters and a son-in-law, Lisa & Claude Johns of Waynesville and Beverly Highsmith of Nahunta; 7 grandchildren, Danielle & Tim Lentz, Derek & Chelsea Johns, Gant & Darryll Highsmith, Abigail Highsmith, Hali Proctor, Cheyenne Trosper, and Bentley Highsmith; 7 great grandchildren, Carter Lentz, Cayson Lentz, Camden Lentz, Annaleesa “Toots” Lentz, Jayce Ryan Johns, Liam Highsmith, Elijah Highsmith and two on the way; a sister, Evelyn Strayer of Waynesville; and also several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

Due to the COVID-19, the family would like to ask all to please follow the rules for social distancing and face mask are highly recommended at the service. Also, anyone who does not feel comfortable with attending the services the family would like for you to know they understand and covet your prayers.

A memorial service will be held Thursday afternoon (December 17, 2020) at 4pm at the chapel of Frye Funeral Home with Rev. Darrell Joiner officiating. Visitation will be held thirty minutes prior to the service starting at 3:30pm.

The family would like to give a big thank you to the staff of Bayview Nursing Home for the excellent care that was given to Mrs. Angela.
