North Augusta-Annie Mae Hudson Umphrey, 89 of North Augusta, passed away Tuesday evening (March 26, 2013) at Hospice of the Golden Isles, in Brunswick, following an extended illness. Born in Aiken, South Carolina on August 18, 1923, her parents were R.L. Hudson, Sr., and Annie Lou Stubbs Hudson. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Clarence A. Umphrey; and she was the last survivor of several brothers and sisters. Annie graduated high school in Vidette, GA., she was a resident of North Augusta until 2003, when she moved to Brunswick. She was a Homemaker, and a member of Grace United Methodist Church. Annie enjoyed gardening, sewing, cooking, and church activities. Survivors include 2 sons and a daughter-in-law, Phillip F. (Dona) Kidney III, of Waynesville, Lee Charles Flories, of Nahunta; a daughter and son-in-law, Jean Ann Flories (Robert) Keith, of Jackson, SC.; 5 grandchildren, Phillip (Tami) Kidney IV, of Brunswick, Amy Kidney (Andy) Bullard, of Sterling, Tracy Kidney McDonald, of Blythe Island, Eric (Dayna) Lott, of Nunley, TN, and Wendy E. Lott, of Jackson, South Carolina; 7 great grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Bobby Hudson, of Vidette, GA. A Graveside Service will be held at Rose Dhu Cemetery in Vidette, GA. Friday afternoon (March 29, 2013) at 1 PM with Rev. Dr. Emmitt Tip Carroll officiating. A Visitation will be held thirty minutes prior to service at the cemetery.
