Avie Wanette Johnson

Nahunta- Avie "Wanette" Blount Johnson, 70 of Nahunta, passed away Friday morning (June 22, 2012) at Bayview Nursing Home following an extended illness. Born in Hickox, Ga, her parents were Samuel E. Jr., and Lillie Strickland Blount. She is also preceded in death by a daughter, Delores Dixon. Wanette was a custodian for the Brantley County School Board, she enjoyed singing, reading, and loved her church, she was a member of Raybon Church of God of Prophecy. Survivors include 4 children and their spouses, George and Rhonda Dixon, of Nahunta, Juanita Dixon Woodson, of Waynesville, Sheryl and Anthony Waters, of Brunswick, and Bobby Johnson, of Waynesville; 8 grandchildren, Eric and Cami Dixon, of Hickox, Elizabeth Waters, of Brunswick, Ashlee Johnson, of Hickox, Stephanie and Sug Grant, Hope Dixon, of Hickox, Kristy Waters, of Brunswick, Carly Woodson, of Hickox, and Jacob Johnson, of Blackshear; 10 great grandchildren; 2 sisters and a brother-in-law, Nadean Taylor, of Hickox, and Annie Lou and Harold Williams, also of Hickox. Also several nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Visitation will be held Saturday evening (June 23, 2012) starting at 6PM, at Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta. A Funeral Service will be held Sunday afternoon ( June 24, 2012) at 2PM, at Raybon Church of God of Prophecy with Rev. Bruce Dean and Rev. Ronnie Sharpe officiating. Burial will follow in the Bethlehem Cemetery, Hickox. Pallbearers will be Donnie Crews, Roger Strickland, Walter Storey, Carlos Blount, Wyatt Blount, and Tommy Marshal. Honorary pallbearers will be the nurses and staff of Bayview Nursing Home. Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta. Sympathy may be expressed by signing our online registry at fryefh.com.
