Barbara Lee Rhodes

Hortense-Barbara Lee Ball Rhodes, 79 of Hortense, passed away early Monday morning (November 13, 2017) at Bayview Nursing Home, in Nahunta, following an extended illness.

Born in Canton, GA., her parents were Marvin Ball, Sr. and Ruby Baker Ball. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James Carroll Rhodes; her son, Michael Rhodes; and her sister, Gwen Striplin.

Barbara worked many years for Cherokee County as a School Bus Driver. She attended Hortense Holiness Church and loved cooking, and listening to preaching and singing.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Danny W. Rhodes (Tina), of Pitts, GA; her daughter and son-in-law, Janet Flowers (Ross), of Hortense, GA; her daughter-in-law, Kathy Rhodes, of McCaysville, GA; 10 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Marvin Ball, Jr. (Bobra), of Albertville, Al; and her sister, Sue Moultrie, also of Albertville, AL. Also several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

A graveside service will be held Wednesday (November 15, 2017) at 12PM at Macedonia Memorial Park Cemetery in Canton, GA., with Danny Rhodes officiating.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Matt Flowers, Marc White, Mikey Rhodes, Tyler Rhodes, Isaac Rhodes, Ian Rhodes, Dylan Flowers, and John Payne.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the American Cancer Society; 154 Milestone Way, Greenville, SC 29615; or any charity of your choice.
