Bedford Smith, Sr

Warner Robins- Bedford Smith, Sr., 87 of Warner Robins, GA, passed away early Monday (December 19, 2016) at his son’s residence, in Waynesville, where he had been residing for several months.

Born in Lyons, Ga., his parents were Sidney W. Smith, Sr. and Lillie Mae Jones Smith. He was also preceded in death by his wife Arlene Flanders Smith; a grandson, Tyler Smith; 3 Sisters, Johnnie Will Todd, Carrie S. Boyd and Lillian S. Smith, 2 Brothers, Roy T. Smith and Sidney W. Smith.

Mr. Smith was retired from Armstrong. He was a member of 2nd Baptist Church in Warner Robins, where he actively served in the kitchen for many years. He fed countless mouths and filled many hearts. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends at his lake house, on Lake Sinclair.

Survivors include 3 sons and daughters-in-law, Bedford Smith, Jr. (JoAnn), of Conyers, Sid Smith (Karen), of Thompsons Station, TN, and Steve Smith (Melissa), of Waynesville; 8 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; a brother-in-law and spouse, Bennett Flanders (Judy), of Lakeland, Fl. Also several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

A Funeral Service will be held Wednesday (December 21, 2016) at 11AM at Hardens Chapel United Methodist Church, in Toombs County, with Rev. Mike Slade officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.

Burial will follow in Hardens Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery; 970 GA Highway 56, Lyons, GA. 30436.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons.
