Bessie Lee Phillips

Bessie Lee Locke Phillips, 69, of Nahunta died early Friday morning (February 12, 2010) at Satilla Regional Medical Center after a brief illness. Born in Cedar Springs, GA her parents were Aley Richard and Penny Batson Locke. She is also preceded in death by her first husband, Matthew Lee; a son, Leland David Lee; and several brothers and sisters. She worked with the Georgia Department of Correction and was a member of Hickox Christian Faith Church. Bessie also loved reading and listening to music. Survivors include her husband, Cecil Phillips of Nahunta; her children, Vanita & J.D. McDonald of Cullman, AL, Richard Lee of Nahunta, Rita Fowler of Port St. Lucie, FL and Matthew Tylan Lee of Nahunta; 10 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; 2 sisters and a brother-in-law, Myrtle & J.C. Clemons of Lakeland, FL and Lollie Lock of Lexington, SC; also several nieces, nephews and other relatives. Visitation will be held Sunday evening (February 14, 2010) starting at 6P.M. at Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta. A funeral service will be held Monday morning (February 15, 2010) starting at 11 A.M. at Hickox Christian Faith Church with Rev. Chuck Allen officiating.
