Betty Jean Rogers

Folkston – Betty Jean Tipton Rogers, 75, of Folkston passed away early Friday morning (December 25, 2015) at Baptist Medical Center in Fernandina Beach, FL, after an extended illness.

Born in Norton, VA her parents were Cosker Benjamin and Keeoke Kitty Tig Tipton. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Ray Rogers; 2 sons, Robert “Bobby” Ray Rogers and John “Johnny” Benjamin Rogers; and 3 brothers, Alan Wayne Tipton, Junior Tipton and Buddy Alan Tipton.

Mrs. Betty was a homemaker and a member of New Life Baptist Church in Saint George. She also loved gardening, flowers and working in the yard.

Survivors include her 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Betsy & Marty Crews of Folkston and Lisa & Cecil Hodges of Hilliard, FL; 7 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; 2 brothers and sisters-in-law, Walter & Teresa Cress of Nashville, TN and Tommy & Martha Tipton of Glynn St. Mary’s; her beloved dog, Paco; and also several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Visitation will be held Sunday evening (December 27, 2015) from 6pm-8pm at Winokur Baptist Church.

A funeral service will be held Monday afternoon (December 28, 2015) at 3pm at Winokur Baptist Church with Rev. Charles Dunn and Rev. James Conner officiating. Burial will follow in St. George Cemetery in St. George.

Pallbearers will be Fred Howard,III, Devin Thomas, Wallace Crews, Jacob Crews, James Myers and Sgt. Perry Green. Honorary pallbearers will be Dale Lawson, Ben Herrick, and Scott Reyna.

Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
