Waynesville – Betty Lou Register, 80, of Waynesville passed away Monday evening (February 17, 2025) at her residence after a brief illness.
Born in Ludowici, GA her parents were James Leon Register and Lucy Mae Harrell Register. She is also preceded in death by 2 sons, Ronald Edward Wells and James Vernon Wells; and a grandson, Chance LaRoche.
Betty Lou was a retired truck driver who owned her own trucking business. She was the best grandma to her grandchildren and loved gardening, fishing, reading, crocheting, painting, drawing, and could cook anything.
Survivors include 3 daughters and sons-in-law, Shirley Boone (Larry), Debra Loura (Mike) all of Atkinson and Julie Thomas of Savannah; 11 grandchildren, Dusty Shirah (Shyeanne), Douglas Shirah (Jami), Brandon Wells (Emily), Courtney Wells (Alquin), Brittany Wells (J.R.), Alysia Strickland (Chris), Annmarie Guest, Ace Trutt, Blake Thomas (Elicia), Kaitlyn Trutt and her special granddaughter, Amber Byram (Hekima); 21 great grandchildren, Dalton Buggy, Layton, Jackson, Maddox, Annabell, Adilyn, Lillie, Zoe, Blake, Jr., Tinleigh, Kaelyn, Lincoln, Jaxson, Sophi, Amara, Kensley, Georgia, Gavin, Teagan, Elijah and Amaria; her special cat, Mrs. Kitty; and also several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
The family will have a private memorial service at a later date.
