Mrs. Betty Gardner, 77, of Hoboken died Tuesday morning (May 4, 2010) in the Hospice of The Golden Isle in Brunswick after an extended illness. Born in Waycross, GA, she was the daughter of George Dyre and Vera Jane Murray Gardner. She also preceded in death by her husband, William Cline Gardner, Jr., a daughter, Linda Gail Gardner Ledford Butler, 2 sisters, Virginia Mock and Laverne Bell and a brother, Durwood Gardner. She was a Newspaper Carrier for Florida Times Union and the Waycross Journal Herald. She was a member of Hoboken Baptist Church. She loved crocheting, the Atlanta Braves, fishing, gardening and loved her family dearly. She is survived by her 6 children and their spouses, Betty Lenor and Tommy Kirkland of Folkston, Vera Jane and Larry Wainright of Hoboken, Ann "Sugarbaby" and Stacy Smith of Hoboken, William "Dub" and Cathy Gardner of Hazelhurst, Jack Jerrod and Dale Gardner of Patterson and Dennis James Gardner of San Francisco; 19 Grandchildren and 16 Great Grandchildren; also several nieces, nephews and other relatives. Visitation for Mrs. Gardner will be Thursday evening from 6-9 P.M. at The Frye Funeral Home in Nahunta. A funeral service will be held Friday afternoon (May 7, 2010) at 2:00 P.M. from the Hoboken Baptist Church with Rev. Tim Rowell and Rev. Client Ledford officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Waycross Pallbearers will be Grandsons, Jacob Gardner, James Gardner, John Ledford, Wil Wainright, Joshua Ray, Tony Gardner, David Gardner and Kenny Gardner. Honorary pallbearers will be Great Grandchildren.
