Hastings-Billie William Douglas, 80 of Hastings, Fl., died late Friday night (May 18, 2012) at the Bailey Center Hospice, in St. Augustine, Fl, following an extended illness. Born in Sanford, Fl, Bill resided in Florida all of his 80 years. He married the love of his life, the late Joann Strickland Douglas and they raised two sons, Gene and Alan Douglas.He is preceded by his parents, Reason and Joan Thompson Douglas, one grandson, Jacob Douglas ,and a sister, Mildred. Bill served our country in the U.S. Army for over 20 years, fought in Korea and Vietnam. He was a decorated War Veteran and a true hero. He was a proud member of the Turkey Creek Masonic Lodge, as well as a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason. Bill is survived by his two sons and their spouse Gene and Wendy Douglas of Tennessee and Alan and Peggy Douglas of Florida .six grandchildren and two great grandchildren, one brother Cecil, 4 sisters Eloise, Jeanne, Martha and Shirley, and a host of family and friends. Visitation will be Wednesday (May 23, 2012) from 5-7PM, at Frye Funeral Home in Nahunta. A Funeral Service will be held Thursday (May 24, 2012) at 11AM at Twin Rivers Baptist Church with Rev. Tim Rowell officiating. Bill will be laid to rest by his dear Joann at Twin Rivers Baptist Church Cemetery in Hortense. In lieu of flowers the family has asked donation be made to The U.S. Wounded Soldiers Foundation. Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
