Billy Thrift

Folkston-Billy Othell Thrift, 78 of Folkston, passed away Tuesday morning (July 9, 2013) at the Hospice House in Waycross, following an extended illness. Born in Nahunta, GA., his parents were Theo Noel "Pete" and Wina Lake Thrift. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Paul Thrift. Billy worked for the Container Corporation banding boxes. He served in the United States Army. Billy was also a member and deacon of Riverside Chapel Baptist Church, and he loved farming, tractors, mules, and horses. Survivors include his loving wife Effie Mae O'berry Thrift, of Folkston; 3 sons and daughters-in-law, Scott Patrick Thrift (Bonnie Sue), of Folkston, Mark Timothy Thrift (Lisa), of Folkston, and an honorary son J.D. "Dewitt" White (Magdalene), of Douglas; 5 grandchildren, Ashley Paulk (Justin), of Harriet's Bluff, Anna McDonald, of Folkston, Olin Patrick Thrift, of Folkston, and Tyler White, of Douglas, and honorary grandson, Josh Martin; 2 great grandchildren, Blake Paulk, of Harriet's Bluff, and Sienna McDonald, of Folkston; 3 brothers and sisters-in-law, Gerald "Scamp" Thrift, Hickox, Pete Lamar Thrift (Iva Lee), Hickox, and Terry Glynn Thrift (Sharon), of Hickox; 4 sisters and a brother-in-law, Jeanette Bryant, of Folkston, Rita Eunice, of Folkston, Myra Thrift, of Hickox, and Ginger Henderson (Darnell), of Gulfport, Mississippi; and a sister-in-law, Ollie Thrift, of Nahunta.Also several nieces, nephews, and other relatives. A Visitation will be held Wednesday evening (July 10, 2013) at 6PM, at Riverside Chapel Baptist Church. A Funeral Service will be held Thursday morning (July 11, 2013) at 11 AM, at Riverside Chapel Baptist Church with Rev. Randy Wainright officiating. Burial will follow in the Riverside Chapel Baptist Cemetery. Pallbearers will be J.B. Johns, John Willie Johns, Robert Johns, Josh Martin, Craig Renshaw, Arnold O'Berry.
