Blake A. Loyd

Blake Austin Loyd, 57, of Nahunta, died suddenly Thursday, July 4, 2013, at Mayo Clinic Health System in Waycross. He was born December 18, 1955, in Waycross to the late George Arnold Loyd, Sr and Annie Lou Riner Loyd. He is survived by his mother, a sister, Mary Beth Deen (Carroll), of Waycross, GA. and 3 brothers, George Loyd, Jr (Dale), Blackshear, Greg Loyd (Peggy), Gainesville, Ga, and Stuart Loyd, Rome, Ga., 10 nieces and nephews, Kecia Banks (Tommy), Kacie Sasser (Michael), Brandon Deen, Priscilla Smith (Mike), Scott Loyd (Jo Ann), Joey Loyd (Melody), Chris Loyd (Emily), Ryan Loyd, Evan Loyd, Drew Loyd , and 11 great-nieces and nephews. Blake graduated in 1973 from Brantley Co High. He served in the U.S. Air Force and then attended Waycross College and Valdosta State University, graduating with a BS in Chemistry. He continued with post-graduate work at Florida State University, and he was a member of Nahunta First Baptist Church. Visitation will take place at 2:00pm Sunday followed by funeral service at 3:00pm in the chapel of Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta. Interment will be at Greenlawn Cemetery.
