Brunswick – Bobby Gene Griffin, 82, of Brunswick passed away Monday evening (September 21, 2020) at his residence after an extended illness.
Born in Homeland, GA his parents were Perry Griffin and Marjorie Geneva Crews Griffin. He is also preceded in death by 5 siblings, Janelle G. Simpson, Linda Gail, Norma Jean Griffin, and Mannan Griffin.
Bobby retired from LCP Chemicals and was a multi craft who could build most anything. He also flagged races for 23 ½ years. While flagging, he black flagged his wife, Burniece when she won the powder puff race and even blacked flagged the owner of the track, Lewie Rodney and was fired after that. Bobby really loved to go to the races especially to see all his friends and was a big teaser who loved to pick on people. His biggest love was his grandkids, they were his heart.
Survivors include his wife, Burniece Johnson Griffin of Brunswick; he did not have any children of his own so his sister Debbie gave him 3 beautiful granddaughters, Annie Melissa McCarter, Jennifer Leigh Petty (Mike), and Kendra Star Cathey (Paul); from them 4 great grandchildren, Shayleigh Ann Petty, Cora Jane Petty, Kennedy Grace Cathey and Silas Robert Cathey; 6 siblings and their spouses, Roy Eldean Griffin, Fred Lamar Griffin (Judy), Barbara Ann G. Tucker (Mike), Terry Griffin (Darlene), Deborah Kay G. McCarter (Bobby), and Ricky Wayne Griffin; and also several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, the family asked that you follow the rules for social distancing. Also, if anyone who does not feel comfortable with attending the services, the family understands and ask you to be in prayer for our loved ones.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service Thursday (September 24, 2020) starting at 1pm at Chapel Park Cemetery in Brunswick.
A graveside service will be held Thursday (September 24, 2020) at 2PM at Chapel Park Cemetery in Brunswick with Rev. Edward Hurst officiating. Entombment will follow in the mausoleum.
Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
