Mr. Bobby Spikes, 70, of Nahunta died Tuesday night (August 4, 2009) at his residence after an extended illness. Born in Atkinson, GA his parents were the late Simon and Willie Scurry Spikes . He is also preceded in death by two sons, Gerald Knox and William Spikes; a daughter, Dorothy Ann Spikes; four grandchildren, Joshua Knox, William Hank Crews, Solomon Tye Crews and Christopher Horne. He worked in construction as a heavy equipment operator at the Camden County landfill, before he retired and attended Lulaton Baptist Church. He liked hanging out at the Huddle House in Nahunta, woodwork, gardening and loved family time. He is survived by his wife, Muriel Jean Proctor Spikes of Nahunta; 14 children and their spouses, Bobby Gene & Rosie Spikes, Jr. and Amy & Thomas Crawford both from Blackshear, Frances Crews & Duane of Hoboken, Mary Ann Spikes of Waycross, David & Beverly Knox and Wayne & Gail Knox both from Brunswick, Donald Knox and Gene & Diane Knox both from Nahunta, Ricky & Trixie Knox of Waycross, Earl & Trina Knox, Nelda & Bobby Manning and Ann & Dennis Horne all of Kingsland, Patricia Trouille of Folkston and Joe & Melinda Knox of Nahunta; 34 Grandchildren; 40 Great Grandchildren; 2 sister and their spouses, Lucy & Samson Lee of Waycross and Agnes; also several nieces, nephews and other relatives. Visitation will be held Thursday (August 6, 2009) starting at 6 P.M. at Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta. Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon (August 7, 2009) at 2 P.M. at Frye Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ricky Knox, Rev. Monroe Gill and Mr. Gene Knox officiating. Pallbearers will be Jobo O'Berry, Gary Elwood, Pete O'Berry, Gary Eugene Knox, Jr., Dale O'Berry and Lamar Harden Sympathy may be expressed by signing the online registry at www.fryefh.com.
