Bobby Edward Strickland

Hortense- Bobby Edward Strickland, 59 of Hortense, passed away at his residence Saturday (January 25, 2025) following a brief illness.

Born in Brunswick, GA., his parents were the late Bobby Lee Strickland and Brenda Lois Black Strickland, of Hortense. Along with his father, he was preceded in death by his brother, Jonathan M. Strickland, Sr.; maternal grandparents, Minnie and Floyd Black; and paternal grandparents, John and Rosa Strickland.

Bobby worked many years as a Brick Mason. He enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting and spending time with his family and friends.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley Ann Carter, of Hortense; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Phillip Strickland (Sara), Garret Beppler, all of Illinois; daughter and son-in-law, Amber Baca (Omar), of Valdosta; stepdaughter and son-in-law, Anastasia Warner (Chris), of Hortense; 10 grandchildren; his mother, Brenda Black Strickland, of Brunswick; sister, Charlene Carter, of Brunswick; and special nephews, James Andrew Carter, of Brunswick and Jonathan M. Strickland, Jr., of Hortense. Also several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

 A memorial service will be held Monday (February 10, 2025) at 2pm at Waynesville Church of God with Bro. Justin Thornton officiating.
