Carl Samuel 'Sammy' Davis

Hortense – Carl Samuel “Sammy” Davis, 68, of Hortense stepped from this life to eternal life on Thursday (September 15, 2016) joining his mother, Ruth, his father, Charlie, 2 sisters and 3 brothers.

Born in Jesup, GA his parents were Charlie and Ruth Chancey Davis.

Sammy was a foreman he "worked at the power house
of Rayonier" in Jesup and was a member of Satilla Missionary Baptist Church. He loved hunting, fishing, and softball.

He leaves behind his wife of 50 years, Becky Davis of Hortense; his son and daughter-in-law, Len & Raletta Davis of Hoboken; his daughter, Carla Keiser of Camden; 6 grandchildren, Shawn Weerts, Kelly & Marissa Davis of Waynesville, Jessie Weerts, Will Davis, Josh Davis, and Mattie Davis; 3 great grandchildren, Aisley Davis, Aleah Davis, and Addilen Davis; and also several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Visitation will be held Saturday evening (September 17, 2016) starting at 5pm at Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.

A funeral service will be held Monday morning (September 19, 2016) at 11am at Satilla Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Loren Bryant and Rev. Rob Hutto officiating. Burial will follow in Satilla Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Shawn Weerts, Kelly Davis, Will Davis, Josh Davis, Brad Parrish, and Charlie Beverly.

Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Stokes, Barry Stokes, Donnie Harrison, Montgomery Cribbs, Ron Schmidt, Roy and Josephine Crews, Brian Gibson, The Five Points Ball Team, and Five Points Hunting Club.

Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
