Catherine Thrift Morris, 86, of Coolidge, GA died Thursday afternoon (November 4, 2010) at her son's residence in Coolidge, GA after an extended illness. Born in Blackshear, GA. her parents were Mac David and Kizzy Johns Thrift, Sr. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Wanice Lee Morris, Sr.; 2 brothers, Brunson and Irskey Thrift and a sister, Thelma Crews. Catherine was a homemaker and a seamstress. She also was a member of Winokur Baptist Church and attended Big Creek Church in Thomas Co. for the past few years. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Wanice L. & Shirley Morris, Jr. of Coolidge, GA; 3 grandchildren and their spouses, Jonathan Lee Morris of Albany, GA, Mike & Michelle Callahan of Valdosta, GA and Brian Lee & Paige Morris of Virginia City, MT; 2 great grandchildren, Caitlyn and Connor Callahan both of Valdosta; her step-mother, Edna Johns Thrift of Folkston; a brother and sister-in-law, M.D. & Raynelle Thrift of Nahunta; 4 sisters and brothers-in-law, Inez Reddish of Hinesville, GA. Alsene Brown of Morrow,GA. , Latrelle & Bill Chesser of Folkston and Carolyn & Lloyd Hewitt of Folkston; and also several nieces, nephews and other relatives. Visitation will be held Saturday evening (November 6, 2010) starting at 6P.M. at Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta. A funeral service will be held Sunday afternoon (November 7, 2010) at 2 P.M. at Winokur Baptist Church with Rev. Wayne Manning, Rev. Reggie Herrin and Rev. Al Wilbourn officiating. Burial will follow in Dowling Cemetery in the Riverside community. Pallbearers will be Lamar Thrift, Ricky Thrift, Wallace Crews, Marty Crews, David Thrift and Mark Thrift.
