Charles Allen

Hoboken-Lester Charles Allen of Hoboken passed away suddenly, Sunday (May 19, 2013) at Mayo Clinic Health System in Waycross, GA. He was 57. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. L.C. and Eva "Aline" Dyal Allen; 2 brothers, Larry James Allen and Michael David Allen; and his nephew, Joseph Michael Davis. Charles was a member of Hickox Christian Faith Chapel. He was employed at Voith Fabrics as a supervisor for more than 30 years. Charles enjoyed spending time with his family, driving his red trucks, and watching NASCAR races. He is survived by his loving wife, Cheryl Hanchey Allen. They celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary, December 21, 2012, with their family and friends. Their four children are Stephanie (Michael) Dunsmore, of Cartersville, Georgia, Samantha (Donald) Sears, of Waycross, Chris (Amy) Allen, of Hickox, and Dustin (Becky) Allen, of Hickox. Their grandchildren are Macayla, Michael, Ashley, and Kaylyn Dunsmore; Chelsea, Charles, Donald III, and Jon Sears; Camron and Brookelyn Allen; Brianna, Kaley, Matthew, and Joshua Carter; Mallorie and Bristol Allen and Karleigh and Gavin Rozier, and one great-grandchild, Maegan Sears; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Virgil and Virginia Hanchey, of Hoboken, three sisters and brothers-in-law, Diane (Jody) Griffin, of Nahunta, Elizabeth (Lamar) Crews, of Nahunta, Dora Lee Allen, of Jesup; three sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Darlene (Terry) Lane, Karen (Kelvin) Purvis, Bonita Lewis, Eddie (Glenda) Hanchey, Belton (Lesley) Hanchey, Jerome (Debbie) Hanchey, and Kirby (Cindy) Hanchey, all of Hoboken. Also several nieces, nephews, and other relatives. A Visitation will be held Tuesday evening (May 21, 2013) at 6PM at Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta. A Funeral Service will be held Wednesday (May 22, 2013) at 4PM at Hickox Christian Faith Chapel with Rev. Chuck Allen, Rev. Jody Griffin, and Rev. Jason Mardin officiating. Burial will follow in Bachlott Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Eddie Hanchey, Jerome Hanchey, Kirby Hanchey, Kelvin Purvis, Terry Lane, Belton Hanchey, James Carter, and Larry Taylor. Honorary pallbearers will be Garrett Strickland, Lamar Crews, Mike Mercier, and Johnnie Crews. Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
