Charles Curtis Harrison

Brunswick-Mr. Charles Curtis Harrison, 84, of Brunswick went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 30, 2011, at Bayview Nursing Home in Nahunta, Georgia. He was born on May 29, 1927, in Wheeler County Georgia, to the late John Lanier Harrison and Mary Etta Bailey Harrison. He is also preceded in death by a sister, Nellie Blanche Reynolds (Leslie) and an infant brother, J.B. Harrison He was a graduate of Glynn Academy High School in Brunswick, Georgia, and later attended Macon College. He was a World War II veteran having served in Okinawa and was honorably discharged from the army at the end of 1947. He married the former Bonnie Faye Smith and they made their home in Warner Robins, Georgia, where he was employed as an aircraft mechanic with the Robins Air Force Base until his retirement. Following retirement, he enjoyed woodworking, gardening, and fishing. After 50 years in Warner Robins, Georgia, he and Bonnie moved to Brunswick, Georgia, where they have been members of Blythe Island Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Mrs. Bonnie Faye Smith Harrison of Brunswick, Georgia; a daughter, Mrs. Cathy Rice, (Jerry) of Brunswick, Georgia; a son, Mr. Charles Erwin Harrison, (Debra) of Jackson, Georgia; a granddaughter, Claire Harrison of Jackson, Georgia; a grandson, Mr. Jim Page (April) of Brunswick, Georgia; a great-grandson, Garrett Page and a great-granddaughter, Gracelynn Page of Brunswick, Georgia; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives, and friends. Visitation will be held Thursday evening (December 1, 2011) at the home of Cathy Rice from 5:00 - 7:00 PM for friends and family Also visitation will be held Friday morning (December 2, 2011) starting at 10:30AM at Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta. A funeral service will be held on Friday morning( December 2, 2011) at 11:30 A.M. at the Frye Funeral Home Chapel in Nahunta, Georgia with the Reverend Tim Brown, pastor of Blythe Island Baptist Church, officiating. A graveside service will be held Saturday afternoon (December 3, 2011) at 2:00 P.M. at Glenn Haven Memorial Gardens in Macon, Georgia. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Bayview Nursing Home in Nahunta, Georgia, or to the Blythe Island Baptist Church Building Fund in Brunswick, Georgia. Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta, GA. Sympathy may be expressed by signing the online registry at www.fryefh.com.
