Mr. Charles Edward Strickland, 66, of Waynesville died Thursday morning (August 6, 2009) at his residence after a brief illness. Born in Brantley Co. his parents were the late James "J.B." and Beatrice Kelly Strickland. He is also preceded in death by two brothers, Rodney Strickland and Jack Strickland; two sisters, Joann Douglas and Gwen Strickland. He worked in construction as a carpenter and of H&H Sawing of Hortense He was of the Baptist faith and loved playing the guitar, singing, fishing, and woodwork building swings, fountains and many other items. He is survived by his wife, Olivia Lavell Bagley of Waynesville; one daughter, Kathy Shipman of Naples, Fl; three sisters, Pam & Bart Solaman of The Villages, Fl, Hattie & Bill Tison of Deland,Fl, and Linda Strickland of Waynesville, GA; three step sons, Jeff & Wilma Bagley, Ronnie & Debbie Bagley, and Tommy Bagley, all of Waynesville; one grandchild, Jonathan Shipman of Naples, Fl; several step grandchildren and step great-grandchildren; also several nieces, nephews and other relatives. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service on Sunday (August 9, 2009) starting at 2 P.M. at Hortense Cemetery. Funeral services will be Sunday (August 9, 2009) at 3 P.M. at Hortense Cemetery with Rev. Tim Rowell officiating. Pallbearers will be Jeff, Tommy, and Ronnie Bagley, Chris Houston, Parker Wood and Greg Davis. Sympathy may be expressed by signing the online registry at www.fryefh.com.
