Mr. Charles Edwin Hardee, Sr., 72, of Hortense died suddenly Sunday night (October 18, 2009) at Southeast Georgia Health System, Brunswick. Born in Wayne Co. his parents are the late Odell and Audrey Poppell Hardee. He is also preceded in death by his wife, Laverne Knight Hardee. He was a log truck driver for D.E. Howe Trucking Company. He is survived by two children and their spouses, Charles E. & Diane Hardee, Jr. and Annette & Scott Sumner both of Hortense; two grandchildren, Ashley and Joey Sumner both of Hortense; 5 brother and sisters and their spouses, Jerome Hardee of Savannah, W.D. and Lois Ann Hardee of Screven, Sharon and Ray Herrin of Jesup, Daryl and Susan Hardee of Albany and Marlene Shultz of Cleveland, OH; 5 sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Hazel & Jimmy Anderson and Lloyd & Diane Knight both of Hortense, Charles Knight of Brunswick, Barbara & James Barnes and Donnie & Joy Knight both of Vidalia; also several nieces, nephews and other relatives. Visitation will be held Tuesday evening (October 20, 2009) starting at 6pm -9pm at Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta. Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon (October 21, 2009) at 2PM from Frye Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Hinton Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Little Cemetery, Wayne County. Pallbearers will be James Barnes, Charles Knight, Glen Rooks, Chris Barnes, Ted Parker, David Mallard and Carey Knight. Sympathy may be expressed by signing the online registry at www.fryefh.com.
