Waynesville- Charles Michael “Mike” Keene, 75, of Waynesville passed away Sunday night (May 29, 2022) at Hospice of Golden Isles in Brunswick, GA., following an extended illness.
Born in Waynesville, GA. his parents were Harold Dean Keene and Dorothy Louise Daniels Keene. He is also preceded in death by his grandson, Elijah James Holder; and a brother, Richard Galin Keene.
Charles worked for Babcock & Wilcox for 17 years and also worked for the Brantley Co. Road Dept. as a truck driver for 27 years. He was of the Church of God faith. Charles enjoyed fishing, reading, and playing cards with his family.
Survivors include his wife of 49 ½ years, Susan Edenfield Keene; 2 daughters and a son-in-law, Felicia “Lisa” S. Keene Vinson (Greg) and Anita Marlene Keene all of Waynesville; 3 grandchildren, Layton Nathaniel Vinson, Layla Grace Holder, and Julia Holder; 2 great grandchildren, Gabriel Lee Herrin and Evelyn Grace Herrin; 1 brother and sister-in-law, Harold Robert Keene (Angie) of Albuquerque, New Mexico; 1 sister and brother-in-law, Lou Ann Keene Grooms (Kenny) of Waynesville; and also several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
A Homegoing Memorial will be held Thursday morning (June 2, 2022) at 11AM at Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta, GA. with Rev. John R. Harris, Jr. officiating.
