Hoboken-Charles "Ray" Bond, 78 of Hoboken, died Wednesday afternoon (March 21, 2012) at the Hospice of Golden Isles, in Brunswick following an extended illness. Born in Oconee, Ga. His parents were Jerry M. and Neppie Kate Rawlings Bond. He is also preceded in death by a sister, Kathryn Geissler, a brother, Jerry M. Bond, Jr, and a nephew, Larry Bond. He served in the Navy as a frogman "Seals", and on the underwater demolishing team. Ray also worked as an Assistant Superintendent, and he was employed at the International Paper Power Plant. He was a member of Hoboken Baptist Church, he loved helping others, working in his shop, his church and mission work. Ray enjoyed life, and spending time with family and friends. Survivors include his loving wife of 20 years, Elaine Anderson Bond, of Hoboken; a son and daughter-in-law, Sterling "Tuffy" Hunter and Jeanette Bond, of Townsend; a daughter and son-in-law, Christy Dawn and Darrell Chaney, of Douglas; 3 grandchildren, Hunter, Falyn, and Cameron Bond, all of Townsend; a sister and brother-in-law, Evelyn Bond and Bill Whitworth, of Borger, TX. Visitation will be held Friday evening (March 23, 2012) starting at 6PM, at Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta. A Funeral Service will be held Saturday morning (March 24, 2012) at 11AM at Hoboken Baptist Church with Rev. Virlon Griner, and Rev. Charles Florey officiating. Burial will follow at Hoboken City Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Rodney Bennett, Mike Grissino, Rocky Johns, Larry Wainright, Wil Wainright, Troy Melton, Eric Grissino, and David Sergent. Honorary pallbearers will be Who-So-Ever Sunday School Class, and the Local Mission Men. Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
