Chestine "Tink" Lawrence Rooks

Waynesville-Chestine “Tink” Lawrence Rooks, 81, of Waynesville, passed away Friday (September 17, 2021) at Wayne Memorial Hospital in Jesup, GA., following a brief illness.

Born in Waynesville, GA., his parents were William Robert Rooks, Sr., and Alma Lyle Rooks. He is also preceded by several brothers and sisters.

Chestine, also known as “Tink” to many, was retired from Gray and Associates as an heat and air installer and was of the Christian faith. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, 4-wheeler riding, and playing with his grandbabies.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce Cox Rooks, of Waynesville; 1 son and his wife, Chris “C.J.” Rooks (Iona); 1 daughter and her husband, Ann Asbell (Tyler) both of Waynesville; 1 step daughter and her husband, Misty Butler (William) of Jesup, GA., 4 grandchildren, Skylar Rooks, Landyn Asbell, Falicity Rooks, and Maebree Asbell; 3 sisters and their spouse; Loretta Brockington, Willie Mae Johnson, and Liz Butler (Harrel) all of Waynesville, 2 special nephews; Alex Hall of Brunswick, and Robert Hall of Waynesville. Also, several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and a host of friends.

Graveside services will be held Thursday (September 23, 2021) 11 AM at Mt. Olive Cemetery with Rev. Randy Wainright officiating.

Visitation will be held thirty minutes prior to the service at the cemetery starting at 10:30 AM.

Pallbearers will be Alex Hall, Chris “C.J” Rooks, David Butler, Jerry Crews, Devin Rooks, Kevin Spinks and Chuck Beard.

Due to COVID-19, we would like to ask all to please follow the rules for social distancing, also face mask are highly recommended at the service. Anyone who does not feel comfortable with attending the service the family would like you to know they understand and covet your prayers.
