Christine 'Granny Coon' Walker Keen

Hoboken- Christine Walker Keen, 76, died late Thursday evening (May 1, 2014) at Bayview Nursing Home after an extended illness. Born in Hickox, GA her parents were Riley Sr. and Minnie Crews Walker. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Norman Artis Keen; a son, Norman Anthony "Tony" Keen; 4 brothers, Jessie Walker, Riley Walker, Jr., Leon Walker and Leroy Walker; and 2 sisters, Gladys Douglas and Lizzie Turner. Christine as known as Granny Coon was a member of Grace Community Church of God and work in the cafeteria at Mayo Clinic Health System for many years. She loved people watching and reading. Survivors include her sister-in-law, Mary "Sweet" Walker of Nahunta; 2 nieces, Debra & Bobby Crews of Nahunta and Patti & Dale Johns of Hickox; 3 nephews, Timmy Walker of Nahunta, Mike & Sheila Walker of Hickox and Stacy & Shannon Walker of Hoboken; and also several great nieces, great nephews and other relatives. Visitation will be held Saturday evening (May 3, 2014) starting at 6PM at the residence of Mary Walker, 3690 Petty Crossing Rd, Nahunta, GA 31553. A funeral service will be held Sunday afternoon (May 4, 2014) at 2PM at Grace Community Church of God with Rev. Ion Johns officiating. Burial will follow in New Hope Cemetery in Hickox. Pallbearers will be Stacy Walker, Richie Walker, Robbie Walker, Daryl Pender, Randall Cribbs, Dale Johns, John Walker and Kyle Crews. Honorary pallbearers will be Bayview Nurses and CNAs and are asked to be at the church Sunday by 1:30 PM. Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
