Hoboken- Cordie "Pauline" Mercier, 78, of Hoboken died Tuesday evening (March 29, 2011) at Bayview Nursing Home after an extended illness. Born in Brantley Co. her parents were George W. and Mary Mageline Roberson Baker. She is also preceded in death by her husband, James W. "Jimmy" Mercier; 3 brothers, O.K. Baker, M.L. Baker and Leroy Baker; and a sister, Myrtle Harris. Pauline was a seamstress for Swains Manufacturing and a member of Hoboken Church of God. Survivors include 2 children and a daughter-in-law, Michael "Mike" & Barbara Mercier of Hoboken and Kay Mercier all of Hoboken; 3 grandchildren, Sherri Mercier (Tommy McComic) of Louisiana, Tonya Crosby(Bengi) and Bubba Mercier (Christy) all of Hoboken; 4 great grandchildren, Colt Crosby, Aden Crosby, Grant Crosby and Cole Mercier; a sister Nadine Peacock of Hoboken; and also several nieces, nephews and other relatives. Visitation will be held Thursday evening (March 31, 2011) from 6-8PM at Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta. A funeral service will be held Friday morning (April 1, 2011) at 11:30AM at Hoboken Church of God with Rev. Ion Johns and Rev. Randy Wainright officiating. Mrs. Pauline will lie in state one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Hoboken City Cemetery. Pallbearers will be J.R. Pittman, Terry Lane, Kelvin Purvis, Ronnie Spradley, Robert Moore and Charles Harris. Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
