Hortense – Crawford “Ernest” Miller, 88, of Hortense passed away Wednesday evening (January 5, 2022) at his residence after an extended illness.
Born in White Oak, GA his parents were Crawford Miller and Bealah Handberry Miller. He is also preceded in by his wife, Frances Clark Miller; a sister, Vera Davis; and a brother, James Miller.
Ernest retired from the City of Brunswick’s water and sewer department and attended Sterling Church of God and Hopewell Baptist Church. He loved hunting (fox hunting and dog hunting), fishing and gardening.
Survivors include 2 sons, Glen Miller and Philip Miller both of Brunswick; 3 daughter and sons-in-law, Gail Lanier (Rex) of Hortense, Ann Ray (Morris) of Brunswick and Eleanor Johnson (Eddie) of Hortense; 8 grandchildren, Christina Wallace (Mike) of Columbus, GA, Mark Ray (Michelle) of Brunswick, Rebecca Lott (Jesse) of Brunswick, Christopher Ray of Waycross, Dustin Johnson (Allison) of Hortense, April Boatright of Mershon, Brandy Enright of Waynesville, and Samantha Miller of Darien; many great grandchildren; 2 brothers and a sister-in-law, John G. Miller (Jeneese) of Hortense and Delmer Miller of Brunswick; a sister, Jeanette Lockhart of Brunswick; and also several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
A graveside service will be held Monday afternoon (January 10, 2022) at 2PM at Horsestamp Cemetery in Waverly with Rev. Tommy Whaley officiating.
Pallbearers will be Dustin Johnson, Mark Ray, Christopher Ray, Dylan Ray, CJ Ray, and Triston Ray. Honorary pallbearer will be Demen Bagley.
Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
