Creighton Wilbert Harrell

Creighton Wilbert Harrell, 80, of Hortense passed away, Saturday February 1, 2025, at his residence after an extended illness. He was born in Hortense to the late Carl Mayon Harrell and Beatrice Lula Brooker Harrell. Mr. Harrell graduated from Brantley County High School where he held the Pole Vault records for many years. After high school he served in the U.S. Army in Erlangen, Germany. Mr. Harrell retired from Brunswick Pulp and Paper as a Welder and Pipefitter. He always enjoyed working and piddling, playing the guitar, gardening, and loved fifties music. Mr. Harrell built their home in Hortense and the log cabin in Maggie Valley, NC. He was a Super Grandpa and enjoyed spending time with his family most of all. 

Along with his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Carl Harrell, Jr., and PeeWee Harrell; one sister, Freda Smith. 

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Macy Ann Causey Harrell of Hortense; four children, Rohn Barnhill (Suzy) of Gulf Breeze, FL, Michael Harrell of Atlanta, Holly McLeod (Brian) of Hoboken, and Sam Harrell (Krystial) of Hortense; seven grandchildren, Bailey Clemons, Emily Harrell-Bond (Barron), Elizabeth Anne Harrell, Macy Taylor Kersey, Brent Lanier McLeod, Creighton Bryce Harrell, and Abby Emma Harrell; one great-granddaughter, Blaine Eloise Bond; Brothers-in-law and Sisters-in-law, Nell Courson, Bill Causey (Brenda), Wayne Causey (Donna), Kathy Robinson (Dale), and Carmen Mathis; lifelong friends, Floyd Holt, Russell England, Walt Manning, Jessie Owens, and Charles Harrell; numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives. 

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Tuesday (February 4, 2025) starting at 2pm at Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday afternoon (February 4, 2025) at 3 pm at the chapel of Frye Funeral Home with Mr. Rick Brooker officiating. Burial will follow in Hortense Cemetery. 

Pallbearers will be Rohn Barnhill, Michael Harrell, Sam Harrell, Brian McLeod, Barron Bond, and Bryce Harrell. 

Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
