Hickox- Danny Wayne Batten, 52, of Hickox died Tuesday afternoon (February 15, 2011) at Satilla Regional Medical Center after an extended illness. Born in Waycross his parents are Tiny Ezell Knight Batten and the late Charlie Auto Batten. Danny was a trucker for Waggoners Trucking and a member of Riverside Chapel Baptist Church. He also loved witnessing for the lord, hunting, fishing and truck driving. Survivors included his wife of 31 years, Marie Batten of Hickox; 3 children and their spouses, Rebecca Batten Owen & Jason Herrin, Daniel & Lesa Batten and Charlie Wayne & Kelly Batten all of Hickox; 6 grandchildren, Kayli Owen, Autumn Doke, Summer Doke, Skye Lee, Courtney Batten and Chelsey Batten all of Hickox;his mother, Tiny Ezell Knight Batten of Nahunta; 2 brothers and sisters-in-law, Charlie Randall & Catherine "Cat" Batten and David Lynn & Carol Batten all of Hickox; a sister-in-law, Sarah York of Hickox; a nephew, Michael York of Hickox; and also several other nieces, nephews and other relatives. Visitation will be held Thursday evening (February 17, 2011) starting at 6PM at Riverside Chapel Baptist Church in Hickox. A funeral service will be held Friday afternoon (February 18, 2011) at 3PM at Riverside Chapel Baptist Church with Rev. Randy Wainright, Rev. David Jacobs and Rev. Jason Marden officiating. Danny will lay in state one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in McClelan Cemetery in Hickox. Pallbearers will be Gene Batten, Jessie Sumner, Robert "Bob" Leslie Hall, III, William Wainright, Dustin Morrison and Joe Knox. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Hendrix, Bobby Hinton, Frankie Wainright, Sydney Haddock, Lynn Haddock, Gene Knox, Donald Knox, Ronnie Crews, Lamar Crews, Clark Lyons and Jody Griffin.
