David Wayne Davis, Sr.

Screven- David Wayne Davis, Sr., 69 of Screven, passed away Sunday (June 4, 2023) at Community Hospice in Jacksonville, FL. following an extended illness.

Born in Brunswick, GA his parents were Raymond Clancey Davis and Ruby Lane Davis. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Richard Davis.

David served in the United States Army and also worked many years as a carpenter. He was of the Christian Faith and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and trapping. He was a Hunter Safety Course Instructor and also helped with the Wounded Warrior Project.

Survivors include his wife, Sara Davis, of Screven; 5 sons and daughters-in-law, Michael Davis (Trina), of Jacksonville, Caleb Davis (Jessica), of Smithfield, NC., David Wayne Davis, Jr. (Kayla), of Blackshear, Jeremy Rowell, of Hortense, and Josh Harris (Tiffany), of Patterson; 3 daughters and sons-in-law, Marie Davis, of Ohio, Sabrina Taft (Kenneth), of Millwood, Ashley Perry (Kyle), of Waycross; 14 grandchildren, Kimberly, Wayne, Richard and Elora Davis, Brooke Faulk (Laban), Whitney Walker (Colby), Alanna Campbell (Nathan), Brittany Davis, Molly, Masyn, Macey, and Maxxyn Perry, Chael and Michelle Harris; 1 great grandchild Mia Davis, of Waycross; 3 brothers and sisters-in-law, Buck Davis (Pauline), of Hickox, Jeff Davis (Anita), of Hortense, Billy Joe Davis (Valerie), of Jesup; 2 sisters and a brother-in-law, Linda Thorn (Robert), of Milledgeville and Charlotte Davis, of Kentucky; and a sister-in-law, Donna Davis. Also several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

Visitation will be held Friday evening (June 9, 2023) from 6PM-8PM at Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday morning (June 10, 2023) at 10AM at Frye Funeral Home with Rev. Sheldon Rowell officiating.

Burial will follow in Hortense Cemetery with Military Honors.

Pallbearers will be Kenneth Taft, Will Robinson, Brandon Chancey, Bruce McCullars, Mark Denison, Tristan Davis, and Curt Deal.

Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
