David Deloach Smith

David Deloach Smith, 66 of Nahunta, passed away early Monday morning (April 20, 2015 ) at his residence following an extended illness. Born in Homerville, GA., his parents were Lewis Smith and Priscilla Cowart. He was also preceded in death by 2 brothers, William Harris Smith, and John L. Smith; 1 sister, Ernestine Miles. Mr. David worked as a self-employed Farrier. He loved fishing, taking care of his horses, rodeo, horse shoeing, and farming. He was of the Baptist Faith. Survivors include 2 sons, David Altman, and Daniel Altman, both of North Augusta; 2 daughters, Tonya Odam, of Waycross, and Lisa Crews, of Nahunta; 7 grandchildren, Mallory Odam, Colby Odam, Danica Salas, Mariana Falcon, Montana Crews, Kyler Hayes, and Kason Smith; 1 great granddaughter; his former wife and best friend, Wanda Smith, of Nahunta. Also several other grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Visitation will be held Wednesday (April 22, 2015) starting at 6PM at Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta. A Graveside Service will be held Thursday (April 23, 2015) at 11AM at Greenlawn Cemetery with Rev. Joe Chancey and Rev. Bruce Dean officiating. Pallbearers will be Eddie Varnadore, Little George Tatum, Stacy Walker, Charles Harris, and Carl Wilson. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Frye Funeral Home.
