David E. Head

Hortense-David Elias Head, 65 of Hortense, passed away Monday (June 24, 2013) at his residence following an extended illness. Born in Waverly, GA his parents were William "Bill" and Martha Wilson Head. He was also preceded in death by 2 sisters, Polly Head, and Mary Whitley; and 1 brother, Richard Head. David worked many years as a heavy equipment operator for Camden County Landfill. He attended King Memorial Baptist Church. David loved hunting, fishing, being outdoors, wrestling, NASCAR, and he loved Matt Kenseth. Survivors include his loving wife, Diane Head, of Hortense; 3 sons and daughters-in-law, Davie Head (Barbara), of Waynesville, Timmy Head (Lisa), of Hortense, and Steve Head, of St. Simons; a daughter and son-in-law, Tina Ross (Eddy), of Waynesville; 11 grandchildren, Eddy Ross, Trey Head, Alton Head, Ashley Head, Krystal Rooks, Wayne Head, Tommy Head, Travis Head, Justin Head, Sarah Head, and Kurstin Head; 10 great grandchildren; and a sister and brother-in-law, Vinny Ribbon (Elize), of Nahunta. Also several nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Visitation will be held Wednesday (June 26, 2013) starting at 6PM at Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta. A funeral service will be held Thursday morning (June 27, 2013) at 11AM at the Chapel of Frye Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Yawn officiating. Burial will follow in Horsestomp Cemetery, Waverly. Pallbearers will be Wayne Head, Tommy Head, Trey Head, Justin Head, Travis Head and Cody Nixon. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Hospice of Golden Isles, 1692 Glynco Parkway Brunswick, GA 31525. Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta. Sympathy may be expressed by signing the online registry at www.fryefh.com.
