Dawn Marie Waters, 51, of the Hickox community died Saturday morning (August 21, 2021) at Southeast Georgia Health System in Brunswick. Born in Waycross GA, her parents were William Graham and Gladys Marie Waters. She is preceded in death by both her parents, Graham and Gladys and both maternal and paternal grandparents. Dawn was a Park Specialist and Manager for Glynn County Recreational and Parks Services . She spent over 27 years with Glynn County and most of her career was spent at Blythe Island Regional Park. She played slow pitch softball for Brunswick College for two years and enjoyed various recreational activities that included hunting, fishing, camping, and spending most of her time doing these activities with her nephew and nieces. Survivors include her life partner, Stacey White and her 2 children, Hunter and Alaina Dampier; a twin sister Donna Waters-Gibson (Tony), two brothers, Stevie (Heidi) and Tony (Tina) Waters all of the Hickox community, a stepmother, Ila Waters of Nahunta; 1 stepbrother, Billy Willis (Cori) of Brunswick; 1 stepsister Erin Johnson (Shawn) of Hortense. Other survivors include her nephew, Will Gibson, and six nieces Ally, Koree, and Kolbey Gibson of Hickox; Sarah Waters of Waycross; Kristy and Elizabeth Waters of Brunswick. Also, Dawn is survived by many other step nieces and nephews, special aunts, uncles, and cousins. Survivors also include, The Strickland Family, her extended family.
Visitation will be held throughout this week at the home of Donna and Tony Gibson in Hickox. Because of the Covid pandemic, a memorial service in memory of Dawn will take place at Blythe Island Regional Park at a later date. Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home. Sympathy may be expressed by signing the online registry at www.fryefh.com. In lieu of flowers a donation may be sent to the Satilla River Keepers for Wildlife Conservation.
