Deborah "Debbie" Diane Hammond Harter, 59 of Blackshear, passed away Saturday (November 8, 2014) at Memorial University Medical Center in Savannah. Born in Columbia, SC., her parents were Wilbur M. "Buddy" Hammond, Jr. and Leila Geddings Hammond. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Donald "Jody" Harter; a daughter, Melissa Diane Cumbie; and a stepson, Ernest Lee "Scoot" Frye. Debbie worked many years as a nurse for Home Healthcare. She was a member of Calvary United Pentecostal Church, and enjoyed spending time with grandkids and family; she loved her dogs, traveling, and cake decorating. Survivors include her son, Wilbur Eugene "Gene" Frye, Rincon; a daughter and son-in-law, Kala Diane Frye Nettles (Josh), of Blackshear; a stepdaughter, Hollie Rebecca Frye Williams, of Pelion, SC.; 9 grandchild, Ethan Frye, Jade Nettles, Gavin McQuaig, Wesley Frye, Joshua Nettles, Simon Nettles, Chase, Trenton, and Justin Ward; 3 brothers and sisters-in-law, J.W. "Will" Hammond (Patty), of Newark, Delaware, W.R. "Robbie" Hammond (Donna), of Willmington, Delaware, and Lynn Hammond (Sabrina), of Rockhill, S.C.; a sister and brother-in-law, Donna Burnett (Brent), of Moncks Corner, S.C.; her dogs, Bella and Precious. Also several nieces, nephews, and other relatives and many special friends. Visitation will be held Tuesday evening (November 11, 2014) starting at 6PM at Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta. A Funeral Service will be held Wednesday afternoon (November 12, 2014) at 2PM at Frye Funeral Home with Pastor Richard Gifford and Rev. Warnie Nettles. Graveside service will be Thursday (November 13, 2014) at 1PM at Southland Memorial Gardens Cemetery, in West Columbia, SC. Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
