Waynesville-Devin Ryan Johns, 17 of Waynesville, passed away Friday afternoon (September, 21, 2012) following injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Born in Brunswick, GA his parents are Gerald Lynn Johns and Beverly L. Highsmith. He is preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Winton Johns, his cousin, Eric Johns, and his aunt, Shirley Morris. Devin attended Hickox Independent Church. He loved baseball, hunting, and fishing. Devin was a student at Brantley County High School, where he played on the baseball team. Survivors include his mother, Beverly L. Highsmith, of Waynesville, his father Gerald Johns and Jennifer Willis, of Raybon, and her children, Christopher and Karley Willis, 2 brothers, Levi Bell, of Raybon, and Gant Highsmith and Taylor Moody, of Waynesville, and a special friend, Destiny Goldey, maternal grandparents, John and Angela Highsmith, of Waynesville, paternal grandmother, Kathleen Johns, of Hickox; Several aunts and uncles, Lisa and Claude Johns, Jr., of Waynesville, Brian Highsmith, of Waynesville, Gail and J.L. Jacobs, of Hickox, Randy and Sherry Johns, of Hickox, Kevin Lyons, of Ludowici, and John Morgan, of TN.; Several cousins, Derek Johns, Amanda Wheeler, Danielle and Tim Lentz, their children, Carter and Cason Lentz, of Atkinson, Abby Highsmith, of Brunswick, and Will and Tabatha Johns. Also several other relatives and a host of friends. Visitation will be held Tuesday evening (September 25, 2012) from 6-9PM, at Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta. A Funeral Service will be held Wednesday afternoon (September 26, 2012) at 4PM from Hickox Baptist Church with Rev. Chuck Allen, Rev. Vance Colley, Chad Crews, Coach Mobley, and Gant Highsmith officiating. Burial will follow in the Highsmith Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Gant Highsmith, Derek Johns, Britton Williams, Zach Johns, Will Johns, Levi Johns, Tyler Johns, Luke Johns, Rodney Johns, Tyler Chapman, Caleb Lane, Jessie Blanchard, Cody Robles, Scott Washam, JC Arnold, Derrick Bradshaw, Dixon Brand, Walker Carter, Brian Dale Jones, Blake Foster, and Byron Fields. Honorary Pallbearers will be Brantley County Heron Baseball Team, Lady Herons Softball Team and the Junior Class. Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
