Dicy Elizabeth Williams Sumner, 98 of Nahunta, passed away early Tuesday morning (December 2, 2014) at Hospice of the Golden Isles in Brunswick following an extended illness. Born in Axson, GA., her parents were Irvin Williams and Cordilla Smith Williams. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Marcus Anthony "M.A" Sumner. Dicy was self-employed at Sumner's General Merchandise Store for many years. She attended Axson Methodist Church and enjoyed cooking, and vegetable and flower gardening. Survivors include two nephews, Lonnie Cothren (Connie), of St. Simons, and Jimmy Cothern; 2 nieces, Hilda Rhodes, and Connie Atkins, both of Jacksonville; 5 grandchildren, Josh Cothren, Shawn Cothren, Jimmy Cothren, Rebekah Cothren, and Hannah Cothren; a sister, Lois Cothren, of Jacksonville. Also many other loved nieces, nephews, and family members. A Funeral Service will be held Thursday (December 4, 2014) at 11AM at Red Bluff Primitive Baptist Church in Pearson with Rev. Carlie Lastinger officiating. A visitation will be held an hour prior to the service starting at 10AM. Burial will follow in the Red Bluff Cemetery. Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
