Donald "Donnie" Boyd Smith, 73 of Nahunta, passed away early Monday morning (March 21, 2016) at his residence following an extended illness.
Born in Jacksonville, FL., his parents were Luther Smith and Essie Mae Boyd Harper Smith. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Leola Manning Smith; his three brothers, Ed Smith, Rufus Smith, and Bobby Smith.
Donnie was a retired Senior Craftsman for Jekyll Island Authorites. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, car racing, and was also skilled and crafted in welding.
Survivors include his children, Eric Boyd Smith, Teresa Dryden, of Waycross, Donna and Tim Adams, of Nahunta. Mellisa Smith is the older sibling of Teresa, Donna, and Eric; 5 grandchildren, Branton Boyd Smith, Lee and April Adams, of Waynesville, Jessica and Mikel Ray Johns, of Hortense, Laramey Knight, of Waycross, Leann Knight; 5 great grandchildren, Emma Renee Adams, Christopher Lee Adams, Carli Grace Johns, Jessenia Macardo, and Julie Macardo; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Raymond and Jeanie Smith, of Lulaton, and Jimmy Smith, of Atkinson.
A Graveside Service will be held Wednesday (March 23, 2016) at 2PM at Smyrna Cemetery with Rev. Wayne Manning and Rev. Leon Wilson. Visitation will be held thirty minutes prior to the service, at the cemetery.
Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
