Donald Joe Batten

Yulee, FL – Donald Joe Batten, 72, of Yulee, FL passed away Monday afternoon (November 23, 2020) at his residence after a brief illness.

Born in Jesup, GA his parents were Walter “Bo” Batten and Lillian Herrin Batten. He is also preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Karen Rowland Batten.

Donald served in the United States Army and was the owner of Batten Tractor Work. Also, he served on the board of Little Brother Big Brother. He loved spending time with his family, fishing, hunting, gardening and watching NASCAR. Donald never met a stranger and loved to cut up with everyone.

Survivors include his wife, Virginia Bibb Batten of Yulee, FL; a son, Donald Shane Batten of Yulee, FL; a daughter and son-in-law, Lisa Batten Chavers (Jay) of Yulee, FL; 4 grandchildren, Cole Chavers, Emilie Batten, Lana Little and Brynna Batten all of Yulee, FL; a brother, Danny Keith Batten of Hickox; a special family friend and his Little Brother, Pete Smith; and also several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

Due to the COVID-19, the family would like to ask all to please follow the rules for social distancing and face mask are highly recommended at the service. Also, anyone who does not feel comfortable with attending the services the family would like for you to know they understand and covet your prayers.

A funeral service will be held Saturday morning (November 28, 2020) at 11am at Hickox Baptist Church with Rev. Jamie Giddens and Rev. Randy Wainright officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Saturday (November 28, 2020) starting at 10am at Hickox Baptist Church.
