Donnie Wayne May

Nahunta – Donnie Wayne May, 72, of Nahunta passed away Monday afternoon (December 28, 2020) at his residence after a brief illness.

His parents were Clifford May and Flossie May Matchett May. He is also preceded in death by a sister, Pattie May.

Donnie was a pipefitter for Local 177 and served in the United States Army during Vietnam. He was a member of Hickox Baptist Church and loved farming, gardening and wood working.

Survivors include his wife Linda Strickland May of Nahunta; 2 sons and daughters-in-law, Gary “Gut” & Sissy May of Odum and Ashley & Leslie May of Chattanooga, TN; 2 step sons and their spouses, Kevin & Louann Poppell of Odum and Keith Poppell of Jesup; 3 step daughters and sons-in-law, Marion & Alan Strickland, Denise & Randy Rowell and Missy & Robbie Cleland all of Nahunta; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; and also several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

Due to the COVID-19, we ask all to please follow the rules for social distancing and face mask are highly recommended at the service. Also, anyone who does not feel comfortable with attending the services the family would like for you to know they understand and covet your prayers.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Thursday afternoon (December 31, 2020) starting at 2pm at Hickox Baptist Church.

A funeral service will be held Thursday afternoon (December 31, 2020) at 3pm at Hickox Baptist Church with Rev. Jamie Giddens and Rev. George Moxley officiating. Burial will follow in Bethlehem Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Cort May, Grant May, Hunter Strickland, Byron Strickland, Blake Cleland, and Brandon Rowell.

Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
