Dorothy A. Stemburg

Hortense-Mrs. Dorothy Allene Burdette Stemburg, 77, of Hortense died early Wednesday morning (November 9, 2011) at her residence after an extended illness. Born in Greenville, SC., her parents were John D. & Ruth Whitley Davis Burdette. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Donald E. Stemburg, Sr., and 2 sisters. Dorothy was a retired accountant for Manning Electric Co. of FL., and a member of the Satilla Missionary Baptist Church. She was also an Eastern Star and loved to crochet and needle point. Survivors include 1 son, Donald E. Stemburg, Jr. of Texas; 2 daughters & their spouses, Debra & Terry Moody of Hortense, and Donna & Tim Bonette of Florence, SC; 4 grandchildren, Nicholas & Travis Peterson, Jessica Ventura, & Kelly Stemburg; 3 great grandchildren, Vincent Bonette, & Meili & I.J. Peterson; 1 brother and his spouse, Jack & Katie Burdette of Flagstaff, AZ; 1 sister, Marian Coleman of Maryville, TN; and also several nieces, nephews, and other relatives. A memorial service will be held Sunday afternoon (November 13, 2011) at 3 PM at Satilla Missionary Baptist Church, Hortense, GA., with Rev. Daniel Harris officiating.
