Nahunta – Mrs. Dorothy “Dot” Lerue Hook Pennington, 85, of Nahunta passed away Friday evening (February 2, 2018) at her residence after an extended illness.
Born in Lewistown, PA her parents were George Banks Hook and Florence M. Wilson Hook. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Frank Richard Pennington; 3 brothers, James Hook, Foster Hook, and Jr. Hook; and a sister, Beatrice Carolus.
Mrs. Dot was a homemaker and a faithful and active member of Ebenezer Baptist Church in Douglasville. She was a great mother who loved cooking, sewing, doing crafts, and watching the Braves.
Survivors include her 5 daughters and sons-in-law, Penny & Ricky Waldon of Villa Rica, GA, Debbie & Nade Wilson of Nahunta, Terry Pennington of Waynesville, Robin & B.T. Easterwood of Douglasville, GA, and Frankie & Buster Baker of Hortense; 8 grandchildren, Buck Crews, Julie Sheperd, Jeff Gipson, Ty Baker, Jennifer Riggins, Brent Wilson, Jeremy Waldon, and Nicholas Waldon; 6 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild; a sister, Ethel Haubrick of Lewis Town, PA; and also several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Visitation will be held Sunday evening (February 4, 2018) starting at 6PM at Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
A funeral service will be held Monday afternoon (February 5, 2018) at 3PM at Ebenezer Baptist Church, 7305 GA-166 Douglasville, GA 30135 with Rev. Mike Powers officiating. Visitation will be held Monday from 2pm-3PM at the church.
Burial will follow in Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Buck Crews, Jeremy Waldon, Nicholas Waldon, Jeff Gipson, Ricky Waldon, and David Sheperd.
The family will be receiving friends at Nade and Debbie’s residence, 9803 Raybon Rd W Nahunta, GA 31553
Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
