Nahunta-Mr. Douglas Groce Purcell,60,of Nahunta died Thursday evening (Dec.23,2010) in The Hospice of The Golden Isles in Brunswick after an extended illness. Born in Jesup, Georgia he was the son of Dick and Moina Dubberly Purcell. Douglas served in the U.S. Army and was a signal man for CSX. Also he was a member of Nahunta First Baptist Church and enjoyed golf and fishing. Survivors include his wife Betsy Kennedy Purcell of Nahunta; a son, Spencer Douglas Purcell of Hickox; a daughter and son-in-law, Ami Purcell Trepke(Todd) of Powder Springs, GA; a granddaughter, AnnaLeigh Sarah Trepke of Powder Springs, GA; 2 sisters and brothers-in-law, Wanda and Fred Lacey of Griffin, GA and Jahn & Terry Saucier of Sulpher, Louisiana; and also several nieces, nephews and other relatives. Visitation will be held Monday evening (Dec. 27, 2010) from 6-8PM at Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta. A memorial service will be held Tuesday afternoon (Dec. 28, 2010) at 2 P.M. from the Chapel of Frye Funeral Home with Rev. David Jacobs and Rev. Fred Lacey officiating.
