Brunswick-Earl Joe Daniels, 64 of Brunswick, passed away late Sunday night (September 3, 2017) at his residence following an extended illness.
He attended school in Woodbine, Ga. Earl started working at the age of 16 years old on St. Simons Island for McDonalds Construction Co. toting boards and pulling nails. He then went to work on Jekyll Island for the Jekyll Island Authority working on the Pine Lakes golf course for around a year, when he met Mr. Henry Thrift who told Earl he needed a grader operator for Camden County road works, so at 17 years old Earl started his career with Camden Road works where he has remained for 47 years.
Earl truly enjoyed his job and he met so many wonderful people over the years as he graded their roads. He loved working with his boss and the whole crew. The staff in the office and at the courthouse was always helpful and friendly. It was always a pleasure whether he needed to talk to the commissioner or HR or his boss or any of his coworkers or the lady’s in the office. He especially appreciated Mrs. Kim putting a smiley face on his pay stubs, etc. Thanks to all of you.
