Edith Amelia Marie Carpenter

Hortense- Edith Amelia Marie Osborne Carpenter, 79, of Hortense died Tuesday morning (August 2, 2011) in Jacksonville, FL after an extended illness. Born in Bridgeport, Connecticut her parents were William and Ida Kohler Osborne. She is also preceded in death by her husband, George A. Carpenter and 4 brothers. Edith was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith. She loved being with her family especially her grandbabies, bowling and was a member of the Eastern Star. Survivors include 2 sons and daughters-in-law, George & Julie Carpenter of Kansas, MI and Gary & Terry Carpenter of Jacksonville, FL; a daughter and son-in-law, Patricia & Wayne Reeder of MacClenny, FL; 13 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren and one on the way; and also several nieces, nephews and other relatives. Visitation will be held Friday evening (August 5, 2011) from 6-8PM at Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta. A funeral service will be held Saturday morning (August 6, 2011) at the Chapel of Frye Funeral Home with Rev. Jason Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Smyrna Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Gary Carpenter, Jason Reeder, Shaun Baldwyn, Wayne Reeder, Tyler Baldwyn and Chad Collins. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Breast Cancer Foundation.
