Edith Mae Stewart Alexander, 74 of Waynesville, passed away Saturday night (April 9, 2016) at Hospice of the Golden Isles, in Brunswick, following an extended illness.
Born in Loughman, FL., her parents were Charlie Stewart and Merty Greene Stewart. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James Fredrick Alexander; her son, Stephen Lynn Alexander; and her sister, Linda Myers.
Edith was a homemaker and a member of Lulaton Baptist Church. She loved planting flowers and babysitting.
Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, James Wesley and Porcia Alexander, of Waynesville, and Billy Ray Alexander , also of Waynesville; her daughter and son-in-law, Connie Wynell and Wesley Hatfield, of North Georgia; 6 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; two brothers, Virgil Stewart, and Randall Stewart; two sisters, Rosie Hendry, and Sylvia Rutlidge, all of Polk County. Also several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
A Funeral Service will be held Wednesday (April 13, 2016) at 11AM at Frye Funeral Home with Rev. Monroe Gill officiating. Visitation will be held thirty minutes prior to the service.
Burial will follow in Hardens Chapel Cemetery (1830 GA. Highway 135, Vidalia, GA. 30474) at 3PM.
