Edward Blackman, Sr

Atkinson- Edward "Stanley" Blackman Sr., 77 of Atkinson, passed away Monday morning (August 12, 2013) at Southeast Georgia Health System in Brunswick following an extended illness. Born in Montezuma, GA., his loving parents were Harvey and Ruth Blackman. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Claire Blackman Harris, and two brothers, Charles Ronald Blackman, and Albert Gary Blackman. Edward was a member of King Memorial Baptist Church, and employed with Ryder as a Service Manager. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, fishing, and reading. He was a speed reader. Survivors include his loving wife of 55 years, Phyllis Blackman, of Atkinson; 5 children and their spouses, Denise Burdick (Buddy), of Midland City, AL, Stanley Blackman, Jr. (Margo), of Fort Walton Beach, FL, Kathy Blackman (Fiancé-Mike Michalic), of Dothan, AL, Randy Blackman (Amy), of Brunswick, and Gary Blackman, of Hortense; 16 grandchildren, Ronnie, Jessie, Rachael, Ruland, Stanley III, Kenneth, Jonathon, Marley, Heather, Ashley, Emily, Erica, Evan, Elana, Becky, and Molly; and 10 great grandchildren. Also several nieces, nephews, and other relatives. A Visitation will be held Wednesday (August 14, 2013) at 6 PM, at Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta. A Funeral Service will be held Thursday (August 15, 2013) at 10 AM, at Frye Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Yawn officiating. Burial will follow in the Westview Cemetery, Moultrie GA, on Thursday (August 15, 2013) at 3 PM. Pallbearers will be Ruland Blackman, Stanley Blackman III, Kenneth Blackman, Evan Blackman, and Jonathan Blackman. Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
