Elaine Allen Baxley

Hickox- Mrs. Virgie Elaine Baxley, 69, of Hickox passed away suddenly Monday morning (March 31, 2014) at Southeast Georgia Health System in Brunswick. Born in Nahunta, GA her parents were Virgil "Dick" and Juanita Knox Allen. She is also preceded in death by a grandson, Devon Baxley; 2 granddaughters, Hayley Steedley and Maura Steedley; and 3 brothers, Marshall Allen, Bobby Allen and Jimmy Allen. Mrs. Elaine was retired from Brantley Co Middle School as an Office Secretary and was a member of Nahunta First Baptist Church. She also loved her family, friends, and music. Survivors include her husband of 37 years, Gerald Baxley of Hickox; 3 sons and daughters-in-law, Timothy & Sherry Steedley of Calhoun, GA, Thomas & Cyndee Steedley and Terrance "Terry" & Kim Steedley, all of Hickox; a daughter, Heather Baxley of Hickox; 2 step daughters and their spouses, Jenny & Justin Boram of Mt. Airy, NC and Donna Baxley of Cairo, GA; several grandchildren and great grandchildren;2 brothers & Sisters-in-law, Kenny & Sandy Allen of MI and Maxie & Nett Allen of Tallahassee, FL; Also several nieces, nephews and other relatives. Visitation will be held Wednesday evening (April 2, 2014) starting at 6PM at Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta. A funeral service will be held Thursday afternoon (April 3, 2014) at 3PM at Nahunta First Baptist Church with Rev. Randy Carson, Rev. Randy Wainright, Dr. W. Derrell Rentz, and Rev. Cliff Adams officiating. Burial will follow in New Hope Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Johnnie Crews, Dewayne Johns, Conner Steedley, Tommy Ponsell, Knot Culpepper, and Derek Johnson. Honorary pallbearers will be Charles Wainright, Frank Bullard, III, and Donnie Griner. Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
